Based on a novel entitled Darkly Dreaming Dexter written by Jeff Lindsay, Dexter is an award winning American television show.

Dexter revolves around the story of Dexter Morgan, portrayed by actor Michael C. Hall. Morgan is a bloodstain pattern analyst who works for the Miami Metro Police Department. Not known to many, Morgan has another identity by night. Morgan is also a serial killer.
During the first season of the show, most of the storyline has been adopted from the novel written by Jeff Lindsay. However, as the show progress, it has evolved independently of the said novel. James Manos Jr. has adopted the novel into a TV series. Manor is also the screenwriter and the writer of the pilot episode.

Dexter Morgan has formed the structure of his ethics in killing from his father Harry. “The Code of Harry” is a body of ethics and procedures which have been formulated by his father to ensure that t Dexter will never be caught and that he will only go after the other killers and not the innocents. Trained by his father Harry, Dexter learned how to interact with other people as convincingly as possible despite the fact that he is a sociopath.
Other cast includes the real life wife of Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter who portrays the role of Dexter’s adoptive sister named Detective Debra Morgan. Also starring is Julie Benz as Rita Bennett Morgan, Dexter’s wife. And James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry.
Lauren Velez, David Zayas, C.S. Lee, Christina Robinson, Preston Bailey, Erik King, Desmond Harrington, Keith Carradine, Jimmy Smits and John Lithgow also star in Dexter.
